ez bar or straight bar for bicep curls

Posted by Riftwood

When doing Bicep curl's, is it better to use an E-z curling bar or a standard barbell...Which one is better of the two.

GOOD QUESTION, AND THE ANSWER REALLY IS...ALTERANTE THEM IF YOU LIKE THEM BOTH. I DON'T LIKE EZ-BAR CURLS, THEY PISS ME OFF, I JUST DO OLYMPIC BAR CURLS. I DO HOWEVER, USE THE EZBAR WHEN I PERFORM PREACHER CURLS, WHICH I FEEL A MUCH BETTER PUMP WITH.

**PERFORMANCE TIP**

MAKE SURE YOU TENSE YOUR WHOLE BODY BEFORE YOU CURL, AND KEEP YOUR SHOULDERS DOWN AND YOUR LATS PINCHED TOGETHER...NOW, DRIVE YOUR HEELS THROUGH THE FLOOR, AND USE A FULL RANGE OF MOTION. HERE IS A LITTLE SECRET...I FIND I GET MUCH BETTER RESULTS WHEN I GRIP THE BAR SUPER HARD.

I switch off and on between the two. More importantly focus on good form for curls, no swinging.

I always use the EZ bar for bicep curls, if I dont, I get what I call "Forearm splints". It feels like shin splints but in my forearm!

*sigh* Use BOTH!! Use have to realize that there are different parts of the bicep, and you need different exercises for each of them. Alternate dumbell curls for mass, straight-bar curls for your inner-heads (peak),EZ-curl bar for outer head, and hammer curls for side-head.

If you had to pick one, it would be straight barbell curls, they are the original overall mass builder. but, alternating between the two can actually be more beneficial.
