Smoking pot and working out

Posted by Hrtless

HEY BRO'S, I'M A YOUNG MAN WHO TRAINS VERY HARD AND AM SEEING GOOD RESULTS,BUT AFTER MAY WORK OUTS I WILL VERY OFTEN SMOKE MARIJUANA. IS THIS BAD?? DOES ANY BODY KNOW THE EFFECTS THIS MAY HAVE ON MY MUSCLES?

When I first started training, I hit bongs like a champ....Never gained a pound. I haven't touched the stuff in 2.5 years. Since I quit burning, I've gained 70lbs!!!(no increase in bf)

IMO your gains will be bigger and better if you don't smoke up!

Marijuana increases Estrogen production. That's fine if you're a chick, but unless you want man-boobs, you should stay away from it. Also, estrogen hinders muscle production, which is BAD.

I have also heard it will have bad effects on natural test production.

Marijuana Effects on Hormone Levels

-increase in ACTH levels.
-increase in cortisol levels.
-structurally similar to steroid hormones.
-may bind to estrogen receptors
-blocks binding of DHT to androgen receptors.
-feminization in males
-reductions in testosterone production and spermatogenesis.
-effects are transient.
-reduced FSH and LH levels (prevents LHRH release).
-30% suppression of LH during luteal phase.
-suppresses prolactin during luteal but not follicular phase.
-THC receptor densities fluctuate with estrus cycle in the rat:
-high during diestrus.
-low during estrus
-ovariectomy reduced THC receptor levels which can be restored with estrogen administration.
-reduces copulatory behavior in rats.
-reported to potentiate orgasm.

-prevents TRH binding in the pituitary.
-reduced thryoxine levels.
-hypothermia (chills).

Hope this steers you clear!
